Cosmetic Dentistry FAQs
Serving St. Paul, Minneapolis, Woodbury and the surrounding areas
Q: I have a family, and we all do not need extensive treatment. I would like to have the entire family see the same dentist and an interested in establishing with a practice that takes the time to get to know each of us as individuals. Do you see people for routine care?
A: Absolutely. We see patients of all ages. Prevention and treatment of dental problems when they are small is a key philosophy of my practice.
Q: Several years ago I lost my teeth and had to have a aesthetic denture made. I do not like the way it feels, and it is embarrassing for me to have it moving around in my mouth. Is there anything that can be done for me?
A: You are in luck. You may be a candidate for implant dentistry. Implants are artificial roots that are permanently implanted into your jawbone. Once the bone has grown around the implants, the dentist makes bridges or aesthetic dentures that can be anchored to the implants. These are very stable, and patients say they are much more comfortable than regular aesthetic dentures. Implants also can be used when a person loses a single tooth. Replacing the space with an implant-supported crown not only looks good, but it also prevents your other teeth from moving and tilting in towards the space.
Q: I would like to change the looks of my smile but do not want it to look so perfect and white that it looks "faky"?
A: Everyone has their own ideas of what looks natural and beautiful. That is why I spend a great deal of time with each patient to discover what his or her idea of a beautiful smile is. Today, we have beautiful porcelain restorations that reflect light very much like your natural teeth do. We can even add little contours and stains to make them look more natural. I try to find out my patient's concerns before beginning treatment.
Q: Will my insurance plan cover cosmetic dentistry and how can I pay for it?
A: In most cases, insurance will not pay for dental procedures that are strictly cosmetic. In many cases, however, there is a clinical need. We make every effort to help our patients obtain the insurance coverage they are entitled to by filing the claims and appropriate paperwork at no additional charge. In some cases, company flex plans will cover services that insurance does not. We offer several methods of payment for our patients, including bookkeeping savings for payments made in advance of treatment; Mastercard, Visa and Discover; as well as low interest financing plans, for those who qualify.
