Root Canal / Endodontic Therapy
St. Paul, Woodbury, Minneapolis, Hudson, Lake Elmo, Stillwater, Minnesota
Endodontic therapy or root canal treatment, has changed in recent years. Most notably it is a lot less painful. The American Association of Endodontists even redesignated the procedure as "nonsurgical endodontic therapy."
Endodontic therapy is performed by a dentist when the pulp inside the canal of the tooth becomes damaged and infected.
This pulp tissue inside the canal of your tooth is made up of nerve fibers, blood vessels, and connective tissue. If the pulp becomes infected, it may cause toothaches. If not treated, the infection can damage the tooth and surrounding tissues.
During endodontic therapy, the infected pulp is removed and the canal is cleaned, shaped, and filled with a root canal material.
